Response to Unprecedented

After watching the movie- Unprecedented, I was more in shock than I could have imagined I'd be in. When I was younger and it the election in Florida was being talked about, I just listened. I only half got what the adults were talking about. However, after watching that movie and learning how cruel the act was of not letting people vote, I was disgusted. From finding people with a similar name or the same name but in a different district as a felon, and taking their vote away seems a little ridiculous to me. Using the electric voting system should be banned for good. What was done in 2000 was unconstitutional and wrong. Then to give a time limit for the districts to recount and figure it out for the democratic party was also wrong. If the republicans were so confident that they were going to win, who cares how long they have to recount. There were thousands of peoples votes being thrown out and/or people being told they were not eligible to vote who have been voting for years. I believe it could happen again because our government is corrupt, and the presidential race becomes out of control and people do anything to win. Voting should be done on paper, and everyone should be able to vote no matter what their race or sex. Threats should not be allowed and the 2000 election should have been redone or postponed to a later date.

Which Debate Influenced my Vote?

I have watched all three of the presidential debates. As a potential voter, I believe the third debate was the most important and the most interesting to watch. When Obama and McCain first got up to speak, I don't think it had hit them yet that this was the last time to try to convince people. As we progressed later into the debate, BOY DID THINGS GET HEATED. There was cutting off each other while they speak to correct what false information was being given about them, or just to clear up what was said. It talked about taxes, energy, education, rights, and education, which to me are some of the most important topics to discuss. If I could vote the last debate definitely would have an impact on how I would vote. With the election right around the corner the candidates definitely gave it their best game and made things interesting. The most boring, and difficult debate to sit through was the second one. The candidates were dull and just repeating what seemed to have been said in the first debate. The topics weren't as big or as important, I did not think. I enjoyed watching all three of the debates, which I thank the elections class for. If it wasn't for this class I wouldn't have watched a single debate most likely.

Vote for change- Joe Biden.

The choice in this election is clear. These times require more than a good soldier; they require a wise leader, a leader who can deliver change—the change everybody knows we need. (Quote by Joe Biden in Denver)

I believe this quote means we need somebody who is not going to give us more of the same that has been going on in this country. Just because McCain is a good soldier doesn't mean he should be president. We need change and the way to get it is not from McCain but through Obama. Before he states this quote Biden lists all that McCain is doing and how it is going to make the country worse because there is no change. Biden is saying vote for us we will make changes and get you out of the trouble we are all in. We will make sure you can get by day to day and have a happier more comfortable lifestyle. If you want things to remain how they are vote for McCain, but if not vote for Obama.
